Telescope help

ive wanted one of these for the longest time. since i like 5. im now 22 and just got one from my g/f family. it isnt new so it didnt come with instructions.


why the puratee freak is everything i look at in the telescope upside down? and no stupid comments like "because its upside down idiot." really. i want to know because ive looked in telescopes that werent set up before and whatever i looked at was upside down. can someone help me?

All I know is a tried to use one once........ and well lets just say I saw nothing.

There is no up and down in space so it really is not something to worry about . But most telescopes used for astronomical viewing are like that unless they use a correction method(if possible).

uh..that was pointless. lol. i knwo theres no up and down in space. but there is here on earth. my telescope isnt strong enough to see out that far. just enough to see things a bit closer and a little clearer. any other suggestions?


me and my g/f brother looked at the scope and we found out that a lense might be missing. would that be it? its not in the big part. but the small part you look into

Depending on the type the telescope it is that is how it is. Most are like that.

And its called a erector lense if you want to modify it for terrestrial use.. So you can be a peeping Tom with a corrected image

Is it a refracting telescope or a reflecting telescope. Cuz the mirror telescopes flip the image upside down. That's how mine is, it's great for looking at jupiter but it sucks for watching cheerleader practice, jk.

in that piece you look into, i know theres a mirror in there. so i think its reflective

Reflecting are better then refracting IMHO

If it sticks out of the side and not out of the end, then it's a reflecting telescope. And even though tiffany's thong looks upside down when you look through her window, the view is much clearer than the refracting telescopes because there is no glass lenses(except in the eyepiece)to discolor or distort the image. By the way, I'm just kidding around with the whole peeping tom thing, I'm just bored.

If I spot saturn or jupiter this spring when I bring my scope outside, I'll inform you of it's position in this thread so you can look at it too. What's the diameter of the primary mirror just out of curiosity? And if you're not sure then how big around is the tube? Mine's got a 6" mirror and I got the thing off ebay shipped for $220. Fun toy. Later.

thats cool about the peeping tom thing. lol. i got a good sence of humor. as far as the size of the lense. i think its like 4-6in. probably about 6. but i dont think its powerful enough to see out too far tho
