If you ever get a call about your credit card "from the fraud department," tell them that you'll call them back at the number on the back of the card. That's really the only way to know if you're really speaking to someone from your CC company.

      Very true.

I'd also ask them to provide me with the details on my card... number, etc...

I should have been more clear. When I wrote, "tell them that you'll call them back at the number on the back of the card" I meant, "tell them that you'll call them back at the number on the back of the card, hang up and do so."

          You are way off.

A valid credit card company would NEVER call you to verify anything.

They will only ask YOU to verify information when YOU call them to ask about specific things.

Anyone who calls you and ask's for personal information i.e. SSN, Address, Phone #s, credit card #s, and so on are scam artists trying to build information up on you so they can go and charge stuff to your account or steal your identity.

Trust me ive had a few credit cards and all of them will tell you, they will NEVER call you unless there has been a serious threat to your account and in that case they will verify who they are.

If you don't believe me, call one of them and ask what theyre policy is.

And yes calling the # on the back of the card is one sure way to know that your dealing with them.

its phone phishing....they have been doing it for awhile and it seemed to have been working for them. They will ask you to verify your Name, address and card number then its on like Donkey Kong with the identity theft.
