Do you have a Portable GPS???? -- must read then

I have a TOMTOM LE...basically it was only offered during the xmas season and at bestbuy. I bought this bitch for 40 bucks [was $250 - $100 instant = $150... my job gave me a $100 gift certificate to bestbuy so thats now $50. According to the buying on the web, if you dont get the product in 1 min they take $10 off.... so i got it for $40].. anyways.

i've been playing with it and i have added a few custom POI {Point of Interest}.
one of those i think most CB7Tuners will enjoy [NY AREA ONLY]... FOR NOW

my custom POI is for the red light cameras in NYC and 2 in LI.
i have around 180 cameras in total and they are in Queens, SI, Manhattan, Bronx and Brooklyn.

If you want them, drop me a line and i'll send it or put it on my site and post the URL.

note: They are in TomTom format [OV2] but i can easily convert them to Magellan / Garmin, just let me know.

on my tomtom i have set it up so that when I am 400Yards away from the POI i called "Red Light Camera", it warns me, so i get warned when I get close to a red light camera. is not 100% done, since fucking NY adds a camera almost every week, but hey, close to 200 is better than 0.

    LMK

    P.S>

Since I drive into NJ and PA, i will be adding those Cameras too [maybe to teh same POI category or a new one]..... but it is coming

filesize: OV2{9KB} BMP{1KB}.... the BMP [picture file] is for the picture that shows up on the tomtom [is a traffic signal, but you can change it].... so 10KB, you should have space on your GPS... either on your SD or built-in hdd

I've seen mods like that available for my Garmin C320. I always wanted to play with it, but since I need it for work, I don't want to take the chance of messing something up!

it wont mess it up. All it is is coordinates in a text file pretty much. the rest [warning etc...] is up to your GPS unit itself.

I have about 15 custom pOI and shit is still running great.

well in NY they are a bitch. Lights changes in about 1/2 a second from green to red and if you were underneath the light or a little before it and continue to go, then you are screwed. so if you are aware of what corners have those DAMN cameras, then you can better anticipate your move.

I definately need a gps sometime soon. I got nailed twice with those crappy camera from driving on a yellow, not even trying to run a light. i was a split second too late and that bastard flashed.

180 wasted and shitcago is buying 200 more, so pretty soon the entire city will be covered.

I wish they parter with V1 and come up with a gps with a radar detector builtin, I like having all in one units.

when I get a gps sometime, I'll be using my radar as well, so will using 2 accessories in one power slot with a splitter be ok on the cars electrical system?

these are old hooptie cars afterall.

there is a site called trapster.com which is a google map that users can put trap locations on.

its pretty neat, so you can use this to make your own custom poi. I would veridy them in person if they are on the way to be sure but its still a neat idea.

and they can also text your phone to alert you, but with gps you dont really need that feature.

best thing to do if you know you are going to run the light is top cover your face from via visor. if they cant identify the driver than they cant give you a ticket.

however it doesnt work when you dont stop at the stop light for a right turn.

incorrect. They give the ticket to the owner of the car, not the driver. Anyone can be driving the car, how can they prove is you without your DL. The ticket is given to the registered owner.

                        Wow you are misinformed.

They take a picture of your license plate and the car.

They don't have time to sit around and figure out who is behind the wheel.

Ive talked to cops and theyve said places where they are implementing these cameras your not allowed to have those cute license plate covers because it could hinder them issuing you a ticket....i e if they cant make out your license plate they cant give you a ticket.
