    Tackling the overheating issue

So I'm finally in the crowd of cb7 owners with overheating issues. The last couple of days I've noticed my radiator fans turn on after every single drive. They usually didn't do that unless I drove for a long time. Then today, as I was going to school my temp needle climbed all the way to H. I immediately pulled over and checked under the hood and all was fine. I managed to go back home(while praying I didn't blow the HG) and finally made it home. I started to investigate and found out the following:

    1. There are no apparent leaks in the system
    2. Upper rad hose is hot/stiff while lower hose is limp and cool
    3. Fuse for the fans is alright, not sure about the relay though
    4. Fans operate when I turn on AC but they they don't turn on at idle

I did a coolant change(bled the system too) and replaced the tstat with one from autozone. Same problem ensues with the radiator hoses only this time there was a little bit of white smoke coming from the vehicle. As of now I'm thinking about replacing the temp sensors and flushing out the radiator with a hose. I belive it may be clogged. Any input is greatly appreciated.

Flush the system and make sure the t-stat opens in boiling water. I believe you may have gotten a bad one.

When you say flush I'm assuming you mean take a hose and literally flush it out that way? As for the t-stat, I went ahead and ordered an OEM one.

Dude I had the same exact problem with mine and it turned out to be the sender(the sensor next to the coolant temp sensor). Also check your fan.

Yeah, what I did was take out the rear drain for coolant on the block, took out the thermostat and put water in there for a bit. Then put a hose in the top of the radiator and opened the drain on it and flushed that.

if the entrance hose is hot while the return is cold, that means your thermostate did not open, aka it is bad, from my experience.

oh and after drain the engine block completely and refill the coolant with the nipple open so it bubbles out the air.

update for those that may be SEARCHING for similar symptoms

I replaced the t-stat, switch on water outlet, and switch on t-stat housing. The car works just fine now.
