ANOTHER! 5th Gen Lip Install (pics)

I guess you could consider this "a how to GUIDE" but I wouldn't say it's a DIY since there already is one for the 5th Gen lip.

    Bolts I will be using.

    Where I put the bolts.

    Holes needed to be drilled.

Some excess tab needed to be cut off.

Broken tab! No problem just use a bigger washer.

See how it doesn't fit the contour of the bumber.

Another hole needed to be drilled, I drilled the hole in the lip instead of the bumber for peace of mind.

Where the holes and nuts were placed. OEM honda BITCH!

More holes drilled, very important notice the relief cuts in the lip? Those cuts allow the lip to bend to the curves of the bumber MUCH easier (thanks to cp[mike]) for the idea. I tried heating the lip by blow-drying it only to be fustrated and hot.

What the bottom looked like when completed.

Everything lined up perfect.......No camera blurr here

Best $20 I've ever spent on the accord.

I hope this helps someone with their install.

nice, you used alot less bolts than i did.

mine is also not as neat on the underside, but i didnt have a drill, so i was drilling holes by hand, then shoving random items like skrewdrivers/keys/pencils in the holes to make them bigger for bolts

For some reason my lip doesn't look right on my car. I'll show you and maybe you can help me. Pay attention to the front end. The sides I got as good as I can.

                  relief cuts in the sides

also, you need to trim the top part a bit to make the front sit back a little farther, i think thats the problem.

here is a pic to show what im talking about, ignore the shitty cutting, had to do it with angle snips

coo. glad you took a pic of the slits to bend it to the contours or the bumper.

Thanks. When I pull my bumper off to install this short ram intake I'll work on the lip more. I suggest you get the lip painted white. My car is black so you don't think there would be a difference if i painted the already dark lip black, but there was.

When getting the rust hole in my trunk fixed at a body shop I negotitated for them to paint the lip, sideskirts, rear lip, and moldings. You can easily paint them yourself. I believe NyceRacer has a write up on it.

nope, if i had to guess maybe an inch or two off each side.

yea i'm debating getting it color matched right now. i know i'm going to be scrapping this thing all over the place no matter how hard i try not to. so it might look shitty after a few months if i paint it. but we shall see, i'm taking her in to the body shop soon for some touch ups and i'll get an estimate on the lip.

                        thanks for the comments everyone.

i can say these things are durable as no other.

just the other day i hit a bump a little too hard (im on stock ride height) and drilled the lip.

had me cussing up a storm, but it barely had a scrape.

not to mention the angle at which it sits on the bumper, unless you hit a curb or something head on, the only thing you will hit is the bottom part, which isnt noticeable
