    help with my swap

hey.. yesterday.. i finished my swap.. when i go to start the car.. when i turn the key twice.. the gauge lights n all that stuff doesnt turn on.. i kno that my battery is charged.. because i charged it.. and all my other lights work when i hook up the battery.. i made sure that i grounded the ground wire on the wire harness.. is there anything else that im missing? i cant figure it out! does it matter where you ground the ground wire on the harness?? i didnt kno where i had to ground it.. so i just picked any bolt that was close.. unbolted it.. and grounded it.. i dont kno whats going on.. thanks

you might be missing a ground wire somewhere. i'm not entirely sure but double-check. are you missing fuses too?! sorry i could not help much.

turn your headlights on and and try to start the car, if the headlights dim you got short to ground.

you can also have a bad neutral safety switch, did you say you converted the car to manual?if you did, you should of somehow installed a neutral safetyu switch,i dont have a diar]gram now so i aint sure.

Heres how you bypass the swicth simply take a screwdriver and touch bith terminals on the starter (big one with one of the small ones). This should atleast cause the car to turn over.Make ysure you have the key to the run position

(you are pushing the cluthc in right?lol)

edit:shit, the neutral safety switch aka clutch switch on manuals is on the clutch pedal.I dont know if it gets wired in when people do conversions...I jus confused my self

and yea i tried pushing the clutch down.. but when i try to start the car.. i get NOTHING.. no response or anything.. when i turn it to 1 i get nothing.. to 2.. nothing.. the gauge lights should be going on and radio and all electrical stuff.. but it doesnt.. then when i try to start.. nothing.. everythings hooked up.. how many ground wires are on the wire harness??

                  welcome to the club

it'll take a long time for you to drive your car, simply because you've never done this before(i'm guessin).I'm not riping i just did my first swap to about 4 months ago and i still always have somthing to fix.

In the end, it'll all be worth it because you learned so much, just dont give up.Now stick a screwdriver on the two starter terminal just to make sure the satrter aint the problem.

it really sounds like you have a ground problem. if NOTHING turns on ie: lights, gauges, radio that means NO POWER. double check everything. take your time you will get it.

as cpmike said to me when i did my first swap. its the most littlest things that effect such a problem. then when you figure it out you think to yourself, "wtf is wrong with me"

you will get it man, patience and observation will get you driving it again.

yeah man.. i was just thinking about that earlier.. it could the littlest thing.. if it is.. im gonna kick myself for that.. haha.. but what do you mean by sticking a screwdriver on the two starter terminal?

im thinking it might be a ground problem.. the lights DO turn on.. like the headlight, break light, and domelight.. but not everything else.. i get nothing when i turn the key.. im gonna take another looksey.. if not ima steal another accord wire harness from the junkyard.. see if that'll work..

where did you guys ground the ground wire in the wire harness? i went to the junkyard to check on the accords where it should be mounted.. it was under the thermostat.. but on the h22.. i dont kno where to ground it.. or does that even matter?

                          ^^^god that is SO true

ok if no lights on your dash are coming on or anything - im assuming then you're also not hearing your fuel pump prime itself - that sounds like the ecu ground

theres a ground wire on your thermostat housing - its the easiest to forget - hell, i forgot it

hook that one up and go start your car

Well, do the headlights come on before you turn the key? If they don't then that indicates to me that you don't have connections to the battery. When I have a bad ground to the battery, it will usually power on headlights, but when I go to start it, it will flicker and turn off.

Make sure you have a fully charged, good battery. If the car has been sitting a long time, it will have discharged some. Check your ground to the block, firewall, as well as your positive cable and the connection to the starter. Chances are that it is something very easy.
