Got my ST Swaybar in, dont feel "extreme" difference if any....

hey guys, i got my ST Swaybar and put it in, im sure i put it in right it will only go in one way, anyways, my car is an LX base base model, i already have a front and rear strut bar and also my car is dropped 4" so got a bit of negative camber which helps with handling, anyways i didnt feel a huge difference with the sway bar, im wondering if thats because im still on 185/60/14 tires, which are like almost bald

everyone says they feel a huge difference with a rear sway bar, i really dont, i pushed it hard thru a corner and it did seem more stable however the damn tires were screeching like crazy, will puttin on 215/40/17's give me that huge boost i need? Also my allignment hasnt been done yet, my tires screech even when goin into a corner at same speed that i would with the car stock, but with stock the tires didnt screech.

    thanks guys!

when i put my 215/40/R18's on and still at stock height those things gripped liek glue, i think the tires will play a big part in your handling issue

The biggest difference with an anti-sway bar on a car that never had one is on a bone stock suspension.

aleks77, if you're car is super low and stiff already you probably gained a bit of anti-sway already, making the bar not as noticeable.

Consider for example some race cars don't even have any anti-sway bars, their springs are so stiff.

They *really* work bet as a matched set.
I wouldnt suggest upgrading the front. yes it will FEEL a bit different when you get a front one aswell, but you will end up increasing understeer again, which is what we need to lose on our cars.

Add a rear sway bar, you stiffen the rear, giving you more oversteer, making it more neutral... good thing. Then you plop on a front bar, it will stiffen it up, not letting the tires flex and stick to the ground as much adding more understeer. Not only that, but if you dont have LSD, in sharp turns I am sure you will burn the inside tire MUCH more since the tire is lifted off the ground more.

That is why I dont like the ST setup... the company isnt putting the equipment out there to make the car handle better, it just makes it stiffer. Had they actually researched it and wanted to help instead of just making a quick buck from people who dont understand the concept... they would have only offered a rear. On a complete race prepped car, their front bar setup COULD help, but an every day daily driver, it wont.

You need to get an alignment, but you can have a super race modded car and platform, but stick on some stock wal-mart special tires, and it wont matter since you wont stick to the road at all. Its all about getting the most power to the ground continuously.

is alignment gonna make a big difference? at least make the extreme tire screeching go away?

look heres your problem if you only purchased the rear its going to handle alot different. i wouldve recommend the front first then the rear. when ever you lower any car you throw off the alignment, camber is change so then the toe is changed. you could get a camber kit in the front and the adjust the toe, or you could just have the toe adusted and call it a day, which would help alot in handling wise. your tires play the biggest role of them all. i would get 17in wheels with some Z-rated tires. this is going to a sticky tire (NOT GOOD in COLD WEATHER)H-rated tires are good/cheap they will give you a nice ride not to harsh as Z or W rated tires or switch to a 195/60hr14
