    accord v6??????

I am thinking about putting the v6 out of a 97 accord se into my 90. Wanting to know if anyone has done it or if it is even worth the effort in the long run? The motor has 68k on it and i can get everything for 1000. What would you do?

might be worth it.. 1000 for the swap but you'll need custom mounts for everything and axles and the ecu and the wiring oh man its getting more complicated as im thinknig about it..

i thought it might be. i do have access to a custom fab shop that a guy on my bros team owns so if i need some mounts or anything fabbed up it shouldnt be too hard. (i hope)

hope u know that v6 only came in auto trannies only and was rated at only 170hp.. for a $1000, you can get a complete JDM F22b dohc 160hp non-vtec; or a jdm H22 longblock(everything minus the tranny).

dont use the 90-97 accord v6 try to get 97-99 acura CL 3.0 or 98-02 accord 3.0 those 94-97 accord motors are weak. if you put the 3.0 in it your accord it would fly

the 97-99 acura CL and 98-02 accords with the v6 motors are rated at 200hp also. the swap would be different, but be willing to spend the $$$ for a custom swap like this. from custom mounts, custom wiring of OBDII ---> OBDI, etc.. better off getting the H22 and he'll come out spending less out of his pocket, and easier to swap into the cb7 chassis.

Actually, the engine bay on a CB7 is large enough to accomodate a J series. But for the power output, why? Exclusivity and torque would be the only real value.

I've always wondered what it would be like to swap one of those V6 motors out of the 6th gen accords into our 4th gens.. I would love to have that kind of swap...

there was no V6 in the 97 se as far as i know. the V6 was an ex. if your really serious about this, try to find a legend 5speed transmission . . . that bolts up AND you dont have to deal with the weak-as-hell auto tranny

hmm still the v6 probly has more potential than the f series, more capable with boost to and it could probly be stronger.

i dunno . . . its still a SOHC, and . . . the engine bay is prolly gonna be too tight for a turbo . . . MAYBE a remote mount turbo would work . . . but still . . . there not much clearence under the car as it is

In a pure measurement sense, there is about an inch more space in the CB7 bay in terms of back of radiator to firewall than there is in a 98-02 Accord. The width on the CB7 is about an inch less and the height is probably shorter (too many variable for an accurate rough measurment).

It seems odd at first because you would assum a V6 to be much wider, but when you factor in the intake and exhaust manifold hanging off the sides of a 4 banger, it is actually as wide, if not a little wider. The intake manifold on the V6 is obviously tucked into the V and the exhaust manifolds tuck under it. It is also not as wide as they are only 3 cylinders wide instead of 4.

                            1995 Accord's had a V6 with a 5spd. My auntie has one!
I'm right with you about swapping in a v6 - it would be great for the trq and also the potential! With the amount of power all these new cars are putting out, having just 200hp isn't saying much right now. :/

the bad thing about the 6th gen v6's (J30) and i would know because i have a 98EX, is their notorious tranny problems. they were a 30 hp increase from the 5th gens v6, but i also read that the 5th gen v6's front ends were extended to accomodate that engine. i read it because some 5th gen v6 owners were whining about not being able to find bodykits. so that may play a factor is the space constraints. most 6th gen v6 owners in search of more hp use the Comptech SC or are waiting on the Jackson Racing one to come out. others opt to ditch the 3.0 completely in favor of the Acura 3.2 which has the transmission options they want. She is a beautiful engine though:
