hmmm....that's pretty vauge if you ask me. Since we all drive Hondas here, let me decode Honda VIN's a little more clearly for you. I will use my old one as an example (just cause I know it by heart)

character desgnation

1 - country of origin
2 - manufacture
3 - vehicle type
4,5,6 - chassis code
7 - transmission
8 - trim level
9 - check digit
10 - model year
11 - assemblly plant
12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17 - serial number
