    master cylinder options

well it's that time again to replace the master cylinder. however it is quite unclear what options i have for substitutions. we all would like a larger MC however not all are created equal.

arrozburner (ramiro) and i just found out that the 92-95 prelude vtec MC ONLY fits EX models which is crappy for me since i have an LX. this is due to one of the fittings on the side of the MC. one is larger than the other as compared to the DX/LX which are both small. this therefore rules out the use of an EX MC in a DX/LX since that larger fitting leads to the ABS unit, which DX/LX models don't have.

and for guys with a rear disc conversion and prelude calipers like myself, a better MC will be more efficient. now besides an just replacing the MC with the same one, what other options do i have if any?

NOTE: 92-95 prelude non-vtec non-si has the same MC as a DX/LX accord.

that apply to 92-93 EX's with ABS only? Or is the 90-91 EX non abs the same as the 92-93's?

good question! upon further research, this is what i found.

        brake master cylinder:

        accord 92 EX: 46100-SM4-G54
        accord 92 EX wagon: 46100-SM4-G54
        accord 92 LX wagon: 46100-SM4-A04
        accord 92 LX/DX: 46100-SM4-A04

        accord 91 EX: 46100-SM4-A04
        accord 91 EX wagon: 46100-SM4-A04
        accord 91 LX wagon: 46100-SM4-A04
        accord 91 LX/DX: 46100-SM4-A04

        prelude 94 S: 46100-SM4-A04
        prelude 94 SI/VTEC: 46100-SS0-A53

        accord 94 DX/LX: 46100-SM4-A04
        accord 94 LX abs/EX: 46100-SM4-G54

        brake booster:

        accord 92 EX: 46400-SM4-951
        accord 92 EX wagon: 46400-SM4-951
        accord 92 LX wagon: 46400-SM5-A01
        accord 92 DX/LX: 46400-SM4-003

        accord 91 EX: 46400-SM4-003
        accord 91 EX wagon: 46400-SM5-A01
        accord 91 LX wagon: 46400-SM5-A01
        accord 91 DX/LX: 46400-SM4-003

therefore we DX/LX owners are still pretty much left in the dust as far as the MC is concerned. the brake boosters are mainly the differences between wagon and non-wagon. having abs differs also.

the best setup i can think of based on this data for DX/LX is:
          -any non-abs wagon booster
-any non-abs master cylinder (which is basically the stock one ).

yeah 1995 had an accord LX non-abs V6 but their master cylinders are still the same as DX/LX for our cars (46100-SM4-A04). you should be ok with your lude booster. does it fit like the stock one? no modifications necessary?
