And then there were four ... death of a CB7 (Emmy)

I always hate to read these threads. A woman turned left in front of me this morning on a clear two lane each way divided road. I hit the horn, hit the brakes, and tried to steer around her hoping she'd see me and stop, but she kept coming. Hit me in the left door and quarter, spun me around so the right side took out a two post road sign as I went off the road. No injuries to speak of. I guess it is providential that I bought the other EX a month ago. I know it is only a car and it could have been a lot worse, but this makes me sick.

I had it towed home. I will probably negotiate with her insurance company to keep what's left; maybe I will upgrade Ruby to an EX.

Damn, I'm really glad you weren't hurt. It looks like you got hit pretty hard.

Luckily, I think it was mostly a glancing blow across the front of her Camry, until the right front corner of her car hit my left rear wheel; that's what really started the spin. The two sign posts (laying almost flat in the 3rd photo) hit in the right quarter between the door and wheel and at the right rear corner, the sign folded over the roof and took out the rear window. Then I completed the remaining 180 in the grass; it was nice and wet so the car slid instead of catching and rolling.

I will have to see how I do with the insurance company, and decide what I want to keep to support the others, before I let the scavengers at her.

Anyone with an Arcadia green coupe shell I could resurrect?

                      That'll buff out!

Man, I'm glad you weren't hurt! Still sad to see such a clean car smashed up...
When I saw it in the driveway, I was expecting to see you drove it home! I drove my old DX home when I ass-ended a wall. No CB has ever left me stranded!

I thought about trying to drive it, but I was 65 miles from home. The left rear suspension is pretty crooked, I wasn't sure the tire would last scrubbing it for 65 miles. I did drive it off the flatbed and into the garage. The left rear tire has since gone flat; discretion was the better part of valor. The woman's insurance will (better!) cover the tow bill (I'm saving them storage fees!).

At least you have a few to choose from. I'm currently on the hunt for one.

Mine is still driveable all I need is a new fender and a new door along with an alignment.

At least you came out ok.

I believe The insurance company will ask if you towed or drove it home and if towed how much you paid. You present hem the receipt and they pay it. At least that's what happened in both cases where I lost a car to a careless driver.

The towing company said they would normally store the car, bill the insurance company, then dispose of the vehicle according to the insurance company's direction. The insurance company wasn't going to act fast enough, so I paid the bill to get it, and myself, home. If it had sat out today, it would be full of water right now and would have ruined the interior. I will certainly present them with the bill.
