    USDM Trunk Lip Spoilers...

Were the CB trunk lip spoilers only available to the Japanese Domestic Market? Today and eariler this month, I saw two different 90-91's with an OEM trunk lip spoiler. How I know this was oem? it was painted the exact color of the owners car and these cars were driven by 50-70yr old people who probably wouldn't give the CB the light of day to mod! meaning these cars were stock height etc. No I wasn't dreaming and no this wasn't a cheap e-bay BMW trunk lip knockoff.

Is it possible this was a factory option here too??? I mean probably on the dealers lot, our CB accords were equipped with no spoiler or the common favored 3-leg spoiler. Look at 92-93 Accords, how many accords do u see with the optional foglamps? It's not a very common option on these cars and probably the lip spoiler was a un common option for a 90-91.

My theory is that 90-91 owners who didn't buy their accord with a oem spoiler and later wanting one had a choice of buying a 3-leg spoiler... maybe 475ish? or buying maybe a cheaper oem lip spoiler for say...350ish (rough dealer estimates)

Just my thoughts...anyone want to confirm this? After seeing not one..but TWO accords with these in person..i don't believe these spoilers are jdm at all, just a rare dealer option.

I think i'm with you there. There was a completely stock accord for sale around here that had a lip spoiler. I enquired about it assuming that it was a modded car and asked what mods were on the car. The guy was in his late 40's and had said that it was factory, he had never done any sort of work to it. So, i'm guessing, like you, that it was a very rare spoiler type in the US.

I believe they were originally called Kit Tail Spoilers. I could be wrong on it, They also were oringinally produced in OEM colors.

Yeah, they're definitely an OEM option here. I've seen them on some of the OEM parts retailers websites. Almost ordered one a couple years ago (well, tried to order I suppose). Hell, I got fogs that way..no reason these couldn't be sitting in some warehouse somewhere either.

I recall the cost was under $100 (unpainted of course).

yeah i can confirm that it is a USDM option too, but only from 90-91. i've seen many many over here in southern cali. unfortunately all of their owners are unaware of what sits on the edge of their trunk. this goes for foglights (even on 92-93s) as well as rain guards (rarely but once or twice).

of course japan has all the options and that's why it is more easily obtained over there than here. the flush mount spoiler is definitely an option in the USA!

Damn there has gotta be a aftermarket spoiler manufacturer who made replicas of that lip, just like they have nowadays, Aftermarket spoilers as exact replicas to avoid paying $600 for a OEM spoiler.

I was also told they are only avail for the 90-91 coupes for some reason. I still have instuctions and they even gave me a new H badge. I believe these spoilers are called

My paper work also says its for a 90 and it was issued oct 1989. I even got new trunk springs. With this spoiler your trunk will not "pop" up anymore. You can get springs off of another spoiler equiped accord.

hey could you PM me a copy of your paperwork with all the stuff you want kept confidential blurred of course? I need something to take to my honda dealer to get this spoiler tracked down.

If they can't do it I will call the actual honda plant and speak to someone about it.
