This car was purchased as my second vehicle, as a summer driver/project. My intention is to build it into a nice and clean cruiser. There are no plans for performance upgrades or engine/tranny swaps. My intent is to keep the car looking stock, and only modifying the exterior with OEM Honda parts or very subtle aftermarket pieces. IMO, the CB7 is one of the best looking sedans of it's era and it's a shame to ruin a good looking car with stupid looking modifications.
Interior will remain stock, with the exception of an upgraded stereo.
Funny story of how I bought this car. I happened to be perusing the Kijiji classified for Hondas, and this one had just popped up within the hour. The car was 2 hours away, so I called the seller and told him I wanted to come see it the next day. He told me several people were looking at it already. I asked him to call me back if it sells before I come to see it.
About 20 mins of me pacing back and forth figuring out how to get this car, I phoned the seller back and told him I wanted the car no matter what. I eded up sending him a $500 money transfer online. The next day at work I wrote up a bill of sale and faxed it to him to sign and send back to me. I then got the car insured and registered, all without even seeing the car or the seller in person.
I wasn't able to get the car for another 2 days, and the seller said he was not going to be able to be home when I planned to pick up the car. He said the car would be left behind his house with the keys in the glove box and the paperwork all signed over.
I showed up to his house, nobody was home, keys were in the glovebox and it fired right up. I called him to let him know I was there and everything was good and was on my way.
Day I bought it. 07/12/2011
Photos from the Kijiji ad:
Got it home, after 2 hour drive;
Nice hole in the headlight. CB7 fishtank, anyone?
Bumper has seen better days, and is also not the original.
Installed the 93 bumper, headlights and corners the next day
Parked with my SE parts car. (Now scrapped as of July 14/'11)
I began cleaning up the car as the week progressed.
Colour matched the 93 bumper
Cleaned up the alloys the best I could from how filthy they were. These wheels are actually from the SE coupe. They have brand new tires on them.
Fixed the rusted out Bosal muffler and replaced it with the Tenrai exhaust from my '90 EXR coupe
Picked up and installed a set of JDM 1 pc headlights today (July 19/11)
Picked up a strut bar and new plug wires as well
Ain't you got a purty mouf
More updates to come obviously!
