ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

cel on but it wont blink when trying to get codes out.

my cel ligth has been on for over a year now but the car was running fine with the ligth on during that year. i decided to jump the lil harness to get some tcu codes out ( my tranny is acting up ) and to get cel codes out too while im at it.
i got my tcu codes ( one long blink, followed by 4 fast blinks. i believe its code 14 Linear (line pressure control) solenoid open or shorted.) what does that mean btw and how do i fix it ?

my cel wont blink at all. it just stays on ( even when the car is on ) i dont get it with that ligth. do i have to jump a different harness?

    any advise? thanks

A solid CEL is very often an indication that your ECU is bad.

really? mine is solid as hell. stays on everytime. im even used to it.yet the car ran fine. why does the ecu fail? and is it hard to replace? my cb7 has 165k miles.

ECU's fail when they have burnt resistors , cracked boards ,etc.. It's easy to replace since it's just plug-out then plug-in.

btw: like i said , ive been driving this ligth for over a year now with the cel on and the car had no problems untill now. how is it that the car ran like that ( now i notice a problem ) for a year with a bad ecu?

A Prelude S P12 ecu will give you a mild boost. It's plug and play for the f22a1.

Unless you have a lot of engine modifications you do not need a better ecu than the stock one . It's not going to help you and I think would be a waste of money. If your engine is stock just use the ecu mentioned above and that will be fine for you people say it adds like an extra 10 HP.

my mods are: short ram intake, ecu performance chip ( replaces IAT sensor ), battery relocated to trunk, voltage stabilizer, strut tower, good fat grounds, uhhh i thinks that it lol. nothing too big ohh yeah oil catch can and no cruise control

A solid CEL with the SCS connector shorted indicates that there are no stored codes on the ECU. When you have the SCS connector shorted and you get no CEL flashes that is a code 0, aka a bad ECU.

When you retrieved your TCU codes where you watching the D4 light or the check engine light? I thought that if it was the CEL that was flashing then that is an ECU Code then the D4 flashed for TCU codes. Been a while since I've worked on a CB ECU/TCU issue.

That "performance chip" is probably what is causing your problems. Get another ECU, and do not modify it.

Other than the Prelude's P12 ECU (which is only an upgrade for a stock or near-stock F22A1 or F22A4... nothing else...), there are no other "plug and play" ECUs that are upgrades. The only thing you can do is get a properly modified ECU (we use Civic and Integra ECUs for this) and have it properly tuned. You are a LONG way from needing one of those, and you will not benefit very much from it. You have no need for an ECU upgrade other than the P12.

Is this performance chip soldered to the ECU or is it one of those inline "chips" that is really just a box with a few resistors in it?

thanks for the replies guys i appreciate the attention my cb7 is getting cus it really needs some help from yall.

about this perf. chip. no its not soldered in the ecu its just a box with 2 wires that replace your IAT sensor( luckily i kept it in case i need to trow it back in ) but the reason i kept this chip on is cus i did notice i performance difference so i never bothered putting back the stock IAT sensor ( i think i might as soon as i put in my new ecu ) and its from e bay. take a look at it and please tell me if i should keep using it.

                              http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Stage...Q5fAccessories

also, when i jumped the harness i was looking for both the cel and d4 codes. d4 gave me a code 14 but cel made no blink or movement just stayed on ( like it always has for a year) how can the car still run if the ecu is bad?

i think ima go with the prelude s p12 cus like deevergote said i don't got nothing too special to upgrade more than that
