I noticed that someone on Honda-Tech.com, Gear Swap, swapped the 5th gear from a F23 transmission into a H23 transmission. I also noticed that he used the M2S4 which is a USDM transmission, and the F23 transmission he used was also USDM. I believe this worked out fine for him, and I've been considering this idea for a really long time.
Here's my question(s). Will this same idea work with a JDM M2B4 transmission swapping in our H2U5 5th gear into the M2B4 gearing line-up? I know the USDM and JDM transmission cases are different, but beside having to machine down the H2U5 5th gear to fit properly, will the H2U5 5th gear fit in the M2B4 transmission without causing any problems while keeping the original 1-4 gears and final drive on the M2B4?
Edit: ...or is this all just theory and I need to do the R&D. While at the SAE shop at school later on, I'll take some measurements if no one has definite answers.
