ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

Oil on top of spark plugs !

Was doing some regular maintenance and when I pulled the plug Wire it was soaked in oil.
About a half inch pool of oil was sitting on top of the plug. Went on to change the rest, same thing with the other three.
Car runs great. No sign of a problem except poor gas mileage. Also, The plugs center electrode was nearly completely burnt away.

    Thanks.

the first part of the problem is your tube seals..

and the other part about the spark plugs post a pic of what you mean by burned away

was it just oil burned on or was the electrode melted?

      Rush

Its the lower tube seals under the rocker arm assembly. they tend to crack and let oil in the spark plug wells.its not the valve cover gasket. but you should check it anyway.

          Thanks Tommi

          LOWER TUBE SEALS. Got it.
As for the condition of the plugs, they look right.
The gap was a little to wide on them. But I referenced some picture of plugs and they are fine.
Just normal were for the center electrode.
          Thanks Again

The lower tube seals require removal of the rocker arm assembly. Make sure you back off all the valve adjusters before loosening the bolts a little at a time. Get a manual for proper torque value and sequence when reinstalling and for proper valve clearance setting. While you have it apart, check for leakage at the cam seal, it might be a good idea to go ahead and replace it while you have everything apart.

So, once I do I have to have a feeler and reset the valve adjusters.
Yeah, I figure its time to break down and get a nice manual.
I've just been pulling up random schematics online but that is such a pain.
Plan on doing it next week. Thanks.
Any recomendations on the best manual?
I've owned alot of cars and some manuals suck when another is really clear and complete.

Yes, after reinstalling the rocker assembly, you will need feeler gages, a screwdriver, and 10 mm wrench to adjust the valves. The best manual is the Honda manual published by Helm Inc. I got my 93 manual (used, slightly dirty) on ebay for about $40.

So this will let oil on the threaded part where the wire meets the plug or will it cause the car to burn oil? I'd assume the first

It allows oil into the hole down through the valve cover and head where the plug is installed as described in the first post. The oil does not leak around the plug into the cylinder so it is not being burned.
