ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

Read them. You will be expected to follow them.

Effective compression ratio...up the compression with boost

A continuation of this thread I made
    http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=138665

-cliff notes...I asked for a chart/graph/formula that would show how much the compression ratio would increase as boost was applied...boost being the only variable. KTown_Whiteboy gave some formulas...but I found some kick ass web sites that take the calculating out of my head and onto a web site...plus I found a pictorial graph.

    This site that was posted
    http://www.zealautowerks.com/hfseries.html
in a thread is what got me thinking.

change the boost...and compression ratio goes up...so I saw that and knew I wasn't nuts.

I didn't know the correct terms. Effective compression ratio is the term I was looking for. So once I found that the search was easy.

I will add...this isn't definitive...it's not exact...but it'll give you an idea...though some of the calculations should be pretty good...especially since I'm not doing them on paper

    Here is another example

    some calculators
    http://www.rbracing-rsr.com/compression.htm
    http://www.smokemup.com/auto_math/eff_cr.php

    site with math formulas...even better
    http://www.motorsportsdigest.com/tech/forced2.htm

There was also a question about altitude and power loss...some of those sites allow for elevation to be put in (longview texas is 371 feet above sea level) it doesn't show power loss/gain...but it'll show a change in effective compression ratio. Coursea

Other terminology is static compression versus dynamic compression (effective compression). This concept applies to all motors (i.e. NA, forced induction, etc). NA camshafts play a role in dynamic compression differences as well.
