Headlight Laws: Got FU**ED by the cops

Anyone here know the laws on headlight as far as HID's in cars that didnt come with it.

These two jackass cops in the fuckin van too, pulled me over as I made a right turn in front of them. Pulled me over right on a drug corner as well. Asked for my papers of course in hurry too. So I asked him why he pulled me over (mind you this is 1130 at night and I saw him so I rev low so he wont hear the tanabe. He says first of all that exhaust is illegal and those headlights blinded me.

So I say if that blinded you then every Acura TL must blind you because these are Original equipment manufactured ACURA ballasts and bulbs. He says "well your car didnt come with it and the TLs do. So I say "so its OK for these 08 cars to blind the shit outta you but a 91 accords needs to have headlights you cant even see?? Then he says watch your moutch and have a nice day, get it fixed"

I wanted to say you dumb motherfucker go arrest one dem corner dudes for drugs and get off my HID havin DICK.
Sorry for ranting but Im pissed.

Anyone know the law regarding this matter.

All aftermarket HID are road use only. Cop is right, you are wrong. I have enough issues with cars blinding me also. Cars that do come with HID are better controlled.

I don't see why it'd matter if it's OEM or not. Fight the ticket.

I don't know the laws regarding this in your state.

If the HID bulb isn't behind a DOT approved projector it's illegal.

There are SOME cars (such as the 1st gen TL) that properly reflects HIDs without the need for a projector.

Are you guys cops?? I see what your saying about the better controlled reflectors though. But I still think its BULLSHIT. All the new 07, 08, 09 10 shit blind me, why are they legal then. Them shits are 10 times brighter than my 02 TL HIDs. I'll post a pciture up later of my shits in the night. Also why are those loud ass performance V8 allowed to have loud ass exhausts without being illegal. Alright fuck it, I wont bitch anymore, I'll just pay the ticket.

there are many ways to fix that problem..
1 get a shield to go around the blub that some H4 blubs that come with hid kits are installed with (1gen TL's have this shield)
2..fo a retrofit...like the TL..just dont' have HID kit in there housing...it has a projector with a cut off to prevent both glare and how high light reaches

I did a retro...I still have to work on it though
New paint job and bumper 8/8/11
              tsx retrofit
              f22b dohc boosted
              custom gauges pods

Motivation is one of the keys to life....tell me "can't" and I wll show you I can

My friends 69 camaro with a big block and bolt ons that runs 12's got pulled over and the cop asked him to pop his hood. Then the cop chat with him for 30 min and gave him no ticket and said to stay safe. Hmmmm. My friend said it himself, if it wasn't and American car, he'd been busted.

I ran HID's in my 90 for 2 years and never got pulled over for them. I switched those HID's to the CG and I still havent gotten pulled over. thats without the retrofit or bulb cut off piece..

I guess it depends on how bad of a mood the cop is in.

ive had mine for a while and never been pulled over. but honestly, you need to get projectors with a nice cutoff. if you had that you would probably not been pulled over. the cutoff is there for a damn good reason and it does work. get it done!

General rule of thumb is you can't modify lighting on a car that did not come equipped with them in the first place...it's well written for the state inspection laws in Massachusetts and New Hampshire so I'm willing to bet it's the same in every state.

So you can try and fight it but you'll go down in flames.

its sucks, but if u run HIDs in a normal housing headlights ur going to have beams of light shooting all over the place and thats illegal. hell my friend had an acura cl with stock HIDs he changed the bulbs to a higher K and got a ticket.

your wrong the cop is right. Cant modify your lights. Cant have HIDs unless your car came with them from factory.

Stop bitching and deal with it

Iv been pulled over in my camaro by cops that are mustang guys and they have tried to give me tickets. Plus I have a friend who loves imports and hates domestics and he is a cop too. Stop bitching that cops hate imports. They really just dont like drivers of these types of cars.

but the fact that the TL doesnt have an option to change them and in the accord you do...it's not like you can put the TL lights back to a regular light bulb.

not sure why would you put expensive ass hid's, thats what high beams are for.

Do you have projectors? Or just HID's stuck in your stock headlights? If you don't have projectors, then the ticket was deserved.
