ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

    Vibration/Rattling clutch?

Hello, I'm getting a bit stumped on something so hopefully someone can chime in on this

I did an H22 swap a few months back and everything appears to have gone well except I'm getting some strange vibration/rattling when I'm moving slowly and have engaged the clutch slightly.

Basically it mainly happens if I'm just rolling in my driveway, say in 1st or reverse and when I apply the clutch is starts to shake/rattle from the passenger side of the engine bay area.

I'm not sure if it's just the clutch or something else?

Any help would be great, thanks.

Sounds like clutch chatter... most likely due to a worn or improperly broken-in clutch.

Okay thanks yeah I was a bit excited when I installed the motor, probably did not break it in properly.

Too break it in does that just mean go easy on it for x number of miles?

Edit: I used the throwout bearing that came with the clutch, been doing some reading and I take it that was a bad idea and I should get an oem throwout bearing?

What clutch kit did you get? If it was a cheapie kit, then yeah, using the throwout bearing probably wasn't a good idea. I made that mistake myself. If it was an Exedy kit, then you're probably fine.

Most clutch manufacturers will give their break-in period instructions with the kit. But yeah, you shouldn't be doing any launching, no hard acceleration, and try not to feather the clutch too much for at least 500 miles. I do 1000 to be safe (but I drive 1000+ miles a week, so that's easy for me!)

I don't recall the brand, so it was probably a cheap kit, maybe I'll look at getting an Exedy kit as you suggested.

Yeah, sounds like I blew it on the clutch break in period I pretty much did the opposite of what you said there.

Well I'm convinced it's the clutch for sure then, thanks for your help.
