ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

    Dead alt again??

So this morning my car did not want to start. I jump started it and at low rpms the battery light and the radio would turn off but after a few min it will be normal. As soon as I turn it off it wont start on its own. I replaced the alternator twice because power steering fluid was leaking on top of it but I fixed that.

Could it be the battery this time? I would take it to auto zone but I do not have a ride at the moment.

Also when driving and I slow down to idle rpm the gauges stop working.

Another bad alternator? What could cause this or should I stay away from auto zone alternators? I have lifetime replacement but its frustrating.

It's my understanding that when it comes to working parts Autozone ANYTHING is best avoided.

I am currently running an Autozone alternator aswell for 6k miles now and no problems yet. Sure there quality is not great but you get lifetime warranty with it.

I was having this same problem and replaced my alternator a few times and replaced the battery but still had it going out.

Problem was that the plug that goes in to the alternator had one of the cables under the tape cut and it would just have the problem start over again. Check the wires in your plug and make sure that's ok, and if not, then grab a replacement from the JY and hope for the best.

Sorry about grammar, just typing real quick at work

It's a breeze for me since I have no A/C or power steering, so I don't have extra pumps or lines in my way

                    Good luck btw

wtf so now i have the same exact problem again... I got the battery tested yesterday and it passed so i got a new alternator because it failed.

Lasted a day now my car wont start and its not charging the battery and when its running it sputters.... Battery light flickers.

Wth is burning up my alternators. I checked all the wires going to the alt they are all good. Remind you this is the fourth alternator dead on this car within 2 months..
