ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

Read them. You will be expected to follow them.

    92-93 TCU issue

    Hello all,

new guy here. Wanted to say a big thank you for your community here and the wealth of knowledge gathered in one spot! awesome stuff

    Now, my problem...
I have found many threads relating to this issue on here...IE replacing the capacitors and resisters. All good there, replaced them all.
One thing though is on the backside of the circuit board there were burn marks at most the caps and resisters locations but also one other component no one has mentioned on all of google...lol

It is the 3 conducter transistor at the Q4 location
my problem was that the values/marking, part numbers were just about non existant...but with many hours at a huge magnifying glass and LED lamps I made it out to be "B931" which by all my searches seems to be a
    2SB931 P SL 130V 3A 30W transistor.

Can anyone tell me if they are familiar with this part, if that looks about right? or possibly able to look at your TCU and see if its marked clearly? I have not been able to get my hands on an official honda technical service manual or even just a schematic for the box.
If this is the right values, I have assumed it is, I have been scouring the local frys electronics, rat shacks etc with no luck what so ever.
Frys carries http://www.nteinc.com/ parts, but cant for the life of me cross reference and find the matching NTE part number.

did find one on ebay here http://www.ebay.com/itm/2SB931-P-SL-...item588502d3ff
and will order one here i guess

i guess after that mouthful my question is if I am correct in the part i am looking for...if anyone knows.
And i guess just how easy are these transisters to burn out? like if i can plug in a give it a shot since I have replaced all the leaky caps and shot resisters.
The transistor is just discolored at one of the soldor points, but otherwise looks fine. I know that doesnt really mean its good, but point being is its not physically fried like the R41 was

anyhow, mucho thanks guys and I will definately post back results and whatnot. I just praying that someones TCU is handy and have clearly marked numbers on that Q4

Oh and FWIW my TCU part number is 28100-PXO-721-M1

oh one more thing.... wondering if a 2SD1254 may work in place. It seems to have the same voltage, wattage and amp ratings....cant remember if PNP or NPN though..have to look

I haven't opened my tcu but if that's the part that you see then I think that you got it. Those usually don't burn out, but cheap parts do especially if there is a short.

Its pretty hard to find a 3a transistor. Now they are around 2a mostly anywhere, and even 2a is hard to find (with a low LDO). Is the transistor discolored because of the caps leaking? If your in there you might as well replace it.

Buy more than 1, just incase. Here is a few sites that may help, parts here are far cheaper. Of course I do LED stuff, so I buy in bulk.

What makes me laugh about forums, is that no matter how much you try to help someone, they dont take the advice. Go ahead and do it the hard way.

You got to respect what you drive, and appreciate what you have, making the best of what you got. and if that means putting CAI, HID's, a phat stereo system, and a idiot in the drivers seat...then so be it!

    Retro!

Yes Q4 is B931, Silicon PNP epitaxial planar type
      Panasonic 2SB0931 (2SB931)

Found via Hamradio forum, as the 931's are used in some radios

      SK Semiconductor crosses to SK9458

RCA/GE crosses it to RCA 2SB934

I couldnt find any on mouser or digikey, there were some on ebay though.
