Outer CV Joint with ABS - Repair

    Hi

I have tried to search for the answer but could not find it.

My axle is clicking when I turn left, this means my right Axle is the issue.

More often than not it is the outer bearings that click and therefore need to replace the outer bearing.

I have an automatic, sedan with original motor (F22A9) and transmission.

    My questions and options are:

    1) Using a complete CD accord axles.

I believe they are not interchangeable but please confirm.

    2) Failing 1 above, my option is to repair my existing Axle.

Is the outer bearings on the CD Accords axles the same?

    3) Failing 1 & 2 above my option is to use non ABS outer bearing and convert it to ABS.

Are the ABS rings removal? If yes, good success rate without snapping?

    Any input would be appreciated.

The reason for the above is I wish to stick to OEM parts.

There are replacement outer bearing kits on Ebay and internet but most are aftermarket or by FEBEST.

From my research and from first hand experience using their ball joint boot replacements, FEBEST is not the best. The rubbers break fairly quickly (6 months or less).

I do not have much faith in their product or any aftermarket. I have been tricked on several parts that looked great new but are really not durable.

    Examples:

After market front engine mount "Dog Bone" no name = broke in 3 months

Upper control Arms from "Tas Auto" = bushing on one side deteriorated in 4 months.

Ball joint boots "Febest" = torn in 6 months

Purchased original front engine mount "Dog Bone" = still solid after 10 years.

Purchase second hand upper control arms = still solid after 4 years.

OEM Honda originals = lasts over 20 years easy. Like night and day, no comparison.

Thank you for the reply and the website.

Never knew of this website and access to the schematics with part numbers is helpful indeed.

By the looks of it the CB and CD cv joint outer bearings are not the same since the part numbers differ.

Also by the looks of the schematics the ABS tone rings are not removable since it is not being shown separately.

If this is correct the outer bearings on the CB accords are unique and cannot be sourced off another model.

That means I either wait for a CB wreck with ABS (which is rare and will never likely happen this year) or buy new (OEM or aftermarket). It seems buying new is looking to be the best option.
