ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

Read them. You will be expected to follow them.

I couldn't find a DIY about lower balljoint replacement after a few searches, but I found this one on Youtube. I'll share it with y'all.

      EEEK!

Why didn't you do the ball joints when you put the coilovers on?

How, when and where did it break?
What kind of roads do you drive on?
How many miles on the car or on the failed part?
        Did it slip off?
I'm curious to see up-close photo of it if you have.

Do you have a Hayes or Chilton service manual ? If not its pretty straight forward . I would suggest both upper and lower balljoints as well as outer tie rods . You can rent a ball joint press for next to nothing from AutoZone . Or remove knuckles completely and take them to a machine shop and have them pressed out and new ones in .

LOL, that video makes it look like a cake walk! I did my
LBJs in 4 hours (2 hours each side) going casually slow and taking my time and using power tools, retaining ring pliars, pitman arm pullers, and a press.

              OUCH!

I've to hurry up and fix it! And drive carefully, of course.

This video shows a good method because they don't use press or any special tools, just a hammer and a pipe for the hard part for example. If you don't have issues on the way, it will be a cake walk literally.

They were just cheap coilover sleeve and were installed couple years back. Didnt notice any play in the ball joint, but it made minor creaking couple weeks prior.

At this point i drove the car about 100 miles a day with mixed road conditions but all city, no offroading or anything lol. The road i was driving on was fairly smooth traveling about 45 mph when out of nowhere i here a loud pop and the tire screeching extremely loud. i was able to control the car and pull it over to the right lane so no further damage was done. I'm not sure when the balljoint was last replaced but judging by what happened, i should have replaced it sooner. I needed a new axle, fender, tire, UCA and staiblizer bar

Looks like it's time for a new LBJ and an axle.

i changed both of mine in like 2hours. i put the LBJS in the freezer and then put a bottle jack under the ball joint and heated and with the weight of the car it popped right out and went it just as easy.
