this was a thinking task and required welding...
u used a metal plate(not thin) bout three inches wide and welded it to the inside vertical beams by the headlights..(also by the AC cooler)and an 'L' bar mounted to the back of that for a platform for the hinge..

the hinge mounts from the bottom with bolts so it is removable.. i run a grill that is actualy mounted to the hood so i moves with it either way... the hood does comin contact with the lightst a little cause of the hinge point... but not enough to worry about.. but a stock style grill... i dunno... here is a pic of it from the inside

i have some trunk hinges off my old audi and its the scissor kind where it will lift as it hinges but i couldnt find them... i think when i get tired of this hood ill probly redo the design and post that laters too but for now it does what i want with little work... (( just cause what it will do with my other hinges is like the buick skylark i think.. it will open rev. but hang infront of the bumper so it req. a diff style hing and alot more fabing...like i said that will come later maybe end of summer.. ))

not something i'd want to do personally, but it's unique and creative. props for thinking outside of the box!

the guy here used the oldsmobile 88 or 98 or whatever it is that opens up that way. He just relocated the battery and mounted the hinges using holes in the side of the brackets. He also tack welded them for strength.
