CAR WILL NOT START ( RPM/SPEEDO DROPPED to "0" while driving )

    CAR WILL NOT START ( RPM/SPEEDO DROPPED to "0" while driving )

    ok...im driving...and the damn RPM gauge and the SPEEDOMETER drops..to BOTH "0" I turn the corner...and the car shuts off....I tried starting it...and NOTHING...when you turn the key to "ON" ...NO DASH INDICATORS....NOTHING COMES ON like its suppose to....

    what the hell is up with it?????

    could it be a fautly ECU..or what??? this is the FIRST I had to encounter something like this

    NOTE:

    everything WORKS...lights...stereo...EVERYTHING...but the DASH INDICATORS ( CEL...OIL...BATTERY..) those WILL NOT COME ON...now when you turn the key back to "OFF" the "red" indicators flick for 1/100 of a sec..

    ( Battery...OIL.etc )
    when you turn the key....to "ON" the CEL...OIL...BATTERY..ETC is suppose to come on..BEFORE you start...well..NOTHING is coming on..

    and it cranks..but WILL NOT START....

    HEEEELLLLPPPPP!!!!!

    IM NOT SELLING IT.....it won't start...im being honest...I don't want you to buy a car that has some sort of ELECTRICAL mishap...

    my car did this i kicked the fuse box and it quit acting up lol i think its the alternator

      the alternator will cause the RPM and the SPEEDO to drop to 0 and cause the dash indicators NOT to work and cause it not to start???????

        Mine had basically the same symptoms...It was sumthin fucked up in the distributor...The re-ingnition ignitor.

        Edit...I see you have a sale pending with the car...Just to let ya know that if you have the same thing as me...It was a really easy fix...decently cheap too.

          same symptoms?? and it was inside the dizzy that caused the RPM & SPEEDO dropping down to 0 while driving, dash indicators not working... as well as NOT STARTING...

          hmm...personally...I think its something with the wiring ( alternator )..thats just my guess!

          BUT I do appreciate your input...its GREATLY taken into consideration...I just need my CB to start and run...I need it to get to work! :sad:

            I thought the same thing....I didnt question it tho when it started workin again.

              iunno i wouldnt replace it right away. i say if the car doesnt start. pull the main relay and check the solder. then if thats ok i would come back here and post lol

                this shyt happend to me 2 it stop all the suddent it's happend to me like 2 times allready the car still ingnites but doesnt start any suggestions?

                  which main relay???? under the dash on the driver's side???....I saw a silver box that wasn't bolted down...and it said..( Main relay )..with something like 12 or so Volts...im not sure...it was like 1am...and I had a shitty flashlight....LMAO

                  which main relay am I looking for Soy???????

                  and then I walked through the wiring....theres a small box on the driver side in the middle ( cruise control and strut ) UNDER THE HOOD..I think thats my Fuel Injection relay...but theres a ( Orange wire ) thats going into the harness plug...its got a pinhole in it...and I can see some copper

                    I was going to say igniter as well, but I recall when my car stopped on me a few years back, all my indicator/dash lights did work. Other symptoms were the same.

                      yeah bro its the grey box under the dash. its bolted on with 2 bolts. and you got to remove a box to get to it. when my ignotor went out the RPM didnt work but everything else was fine soo im guessing its not that. but if your car doesnt start check this relay. then well work from there. like i said my gauges were acting up just like yours, and i checked the amount ofliquid in my battery and its low, so im a change my battery and see whats up!

                        how would the igniter affect the dash indicator lights?

                        its not starting...I checked all the grounds..and they're good!

                            IM thinking....MAYBE...the MAIN RELAY under the dash was suppose to GROUND itself when bolted..

                            IM thinking....from it not being bolted....shorted something out

                              wierd um disconnect it, then pop the grey cover off and check the solder leads.
