ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:
http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/forumdisplay.php?f=144
Read them. You will be expected to follow them.

    Breather filter

Ok so I found someone else's thread.

So overall there's really no PRO point to it? It's ust to eliminate a valve/hose?

It keeps oil from going in the intake. Doesn't seem pointless to me.

i try to just smile, and say everything’s fine.

Take the hose off your intake and look at the oil that has spattered along the intake tube.

I wouldn't call it a performance mod though.

I have a catch can, works nice. In fact I'm using the same Husky filter.
And I wouldn't drive my car without the valve cover to plenum line connected.

As far as the line that connects the intake tube to the valve cover: I've never seen any oil in the intake tube on my car. I see no reason for a breather filter.

I have seen oil puddle in the intake tube of a car that was burning a little oil, but that was more likely cause by a bad PCV valve.

how does oil get sucked into there?

Because there's a vacuum in the air intake system. Like sucking soda through a straw.

AFAIK, they're both considered part of the PCV system. Maybe some of us are taking about one, and some are talking about the other.
The pistons create pulses of air in the crankcase, and the PCV valve is a one-way valve, so these pulses flow in one direction. In through the intake tubing, through the crankcase, and out through the PCV valve.
Just in case anyone didn't know how it works.
AFAIK, you shouldn't get any significant amount of oil into the intake tube, so long as the PCV valve works properly.

In any case, I prefer to not have a breather filter. Adds one more thing to maintain, and I'm not to keen on how well they may or may not filter. I'd rather leave that to the air filter.

Are you serious? Have you ever taken your valve cover off? The are both consider a "breather". The PCV valve is one way like was stated by someone. You can put the catch can on either one. But I chose to put it where the oil is coming from. Put a damn breather on both if that makes you happy
