Faded Door Moldings... is there a fix?!

I've searched and I still can't find anything about how to deal with our faded door moldings I don't want these faded ass things dissing my car any longer Furthermore, I am not going to fix 'dem 'dare up so they look even more ghetto than they are now, i.e. some black or clear coat that still won't match the other moldings.

So, what I want to know, is if anyone has found out how to get these back to looking new (matching other moldings), short of buying new ones. If I have to buy new moldings, I absolutely will because they are killin' me, but I want to know if I can salvage these one's before I have to spend more money than I have to.

So if someone could let me know what they did or direct me to a thread of some sort or anything that is tried and true, I'm interested.

I will definately take pictures of the job if this can be done = NEW DIY for Coupers.

i put armor-all or anything that shines up black rubbers or anything for automotive use, and i put some on a rag and rub it on there, it will last until it rains or something, or you could take them off sand them down and paint them...or buy new ones.i just put shine on them...i do it with the side skirts, lip, everything lol.

I don't want to get Armor-all on my paint, and besides, it's raining around here everyday lately!

I'm definately looking for something more long term, but thanks for the input!!

So instead of just painting one, and the rest not matching, just paint them all.

Believe it or not, I didn't even think of that.

This may be a possibility, but I'd rather just mess with the bad one's if possible....we'll see here....thanks for your input

......your answer was in my thread intro

Thanks for looking around for me as I was just thinking that's what it looks like it's going to come down to.

I figured I was going to get overwhelming responses on exactly something you guys were doing, but I guess this isn't as big of a problem to everyone else as I thought.....I was wondering why nothing was coming up on searches...

They sell this stuff, I guess its molding dye or something, I used it once and it only lasted so long.

I've had good luck with Stoner brand Trimshine.

get a mother's product called back to black. it's about 5-7 dollars. k-mart uses it on his trim, and it works really well. his door moldings look very dark, and have a nice even finish.

if you want a higher end product, you can use poorboy's ex-p sealant, which runs about $15 a bottle, but the added benefit of this product is that it can be used on the entire car (as it's a sealant).

the molding is just 6 pieces, and they're real easy to take off, so i'd just repaint them ALL black.
I........love my car. Simple as that.

save your time and/or money and dont paint them

like el said above, i use backtoblack almost every time i wash my car and it takes no time. wipe it on and get a clean rag to buff and wipe off the residue. apply as many coats as needed.

it works for me, plus $5 isnt shit compared to the supplies you need to repaint them or taking them to a body shop for them to do em

Don't paint them, it'll look worse. Go to the cupboard, get some peanut butter, and put it on a rag. Rub it into the moulding, and wipe off the excess. That should make them look pretty good.

Or you can go and get some of that Stoner's trim shine. They call it that cuz it's for us lazy people.

How is painting them going to make them look worse?

Maybe if you don't do it right. Yeah it might cost a little bit for supplies, He allready mentioned he wants something that will last... I'm sure you could get them painted black for less than new ones'll run. Just have the body shop prime them and sand them smooth. Thats what i'm in the process of doing now, allready took the driver side window chrome off, filled all of the dings, will be primed tomorrow, and painted soon. Then the other side will get done, then the door mouldings will get done. That way they are all ready when I paint the whole car. My Mugen lip and side skirts will be painted black also.

So which product seems to work the best? Painting is out of the question, it just looks too "glossy" and ends up chipping off. I'm wanting to restore them to the OEM look. Has anyone tryed this "Back to Black"? How well and long does it work? Anyone tryed any other products that they've been happy with?
