- one of the five or so screws holding the dome light to the headliner
- the wire plating inside the light may be loose inside its housing
take the cover off your dome light, unscrew it off the headliner and pull it out. you'll see the metal cover behind it. press it up to see if its loose, as the glue holding it down might've failed by now.My pictures/photos will return soon...

a DIY for removing the headliner? there's one in the DIY section, but nothing is really CB specific.
man, i wish i had taken pictures when i removed mine to rewrap it last month...
here are a couple tips/instructions for removing your headliner (DX & LX):
well, first off, it isn't very hard. all you've gotta do is CAREFULLY pry off your A, B, and C pillar covers - they're held together by pressure clips, approximately four inches or so between each clip. then remove a few screws.
once the covers are out, you'll see two screws on each end of the headliner, one on each door-side. i'm guessing these are directly between the door jambs on a sedan, because they're right after the door jambs on a coupe. these are the only screws physically securing the headliner onto the car.
with those two screws removed, you can proceed to removing the following items - each of which containing two or more screws holding the headliner in place:- the dome light (5 screws?)
- passenger headliner handles (6 screws)
- visors, and rear-view mirror (7 screws)
-be sure to keep everything organized. there are four washers to each screw in our handle assemblies. some of these screws are self-tapping, and are fit to different lengths/threading.
once you've removed all those headliner accessories and their respective hardware, all you have to do is pull the headliner off the car's roof. there are about a dozen pressure clips holding it to the shell, a few along the front windshield, and a few more in the back along the rear windshield. to dislocate them, all you have to do is gently pry the headliner out from the outermost edge, along the windshields.
BE CAREFUL - the frame is pretty sharp along the edge where the metal meets the glass. don't wedge your fingers too far back there, or you're bound to get cut!
let the headliner rest on the two front seats/headrests and the rear bench. you'll notice that there's an electrical cable running from the passenger side A pillar to the dome light area - clearly, you're going to have to get that loose in order to remove the headliner from the car.
follow the cable to the top of the headliner, and you'll see that it recesses beneath a foam sheet. you're going to have to cut the foam along the cavity holding the dome light cables. feel it out, and be sure to cut carefully.
you can replace this foam sheet with a fresh yard of the same thing, purchased from a fabric store. i think i paid something like $6.50 for a yard. one yard is all you need.
now, with the dome light connector/cable out of the headliner, you're free to remove it from the car. coupe owners, the headliner can be removed through either door, with a bit of maneuvering. alternatively, you can fold your rear bench down and slide it out of the trunk. sedan owners... the trunk is the only way to go.
hope that helps!
with the headliner out, you can add all sorts of sound deadening material up there. My pictures/photos will return soon...
